About the Report Writing for Business course

Reports serve a wide variety of purposes but all follow the same basic pattern. This one-day instructor-led course enables attendees to appreciate and practise the principles of successful report writing – how to write reports that are read without unnecessary delay, understood without undue effort, accepted and, where appropriate, acted upon.

It pairs well with our Clear Business Writing and Minute Taking courses. Browse all our management & leadership training courses, or run this course as a live remote class via Microsoft Teams.

Frequently asked questions

Who is this course for?

Anyone who has to produce written reports, proposals or recommendations – and wants them to be clear, well structured and acted upon.

Can attendees work on their own reports?

Yes. For in-house courses we encourage attendees to bring real examples so the principles are applied to the documents they actually write.

Can the course be delivered remotely?

Yes. The in-house fee covers delivery at your premises or as a live online class via Microsoft Teams – same trainer, same content, same materials.

Can the course be tailored to our organisation?

Yes – every in-house course starts with a free training needs analysis, so the examples, exercises and emphasis are built around your organisation and the situations your people actually face.

What is the actor-led option?

Our actor-led option adds professional actors to the training day, so your managers practise real conversations with someone who responds exactly as a colleague would – and get feedback on how it landed. Find out more about training with professional actors.

What do attendees receive?

Every attendee receives reference materials and a course completion certificate, and we provide free post-course telephone and email support.

Training a larger group?

Our half-day and full-day in-house prices are based on groups of up to 6 people, and the actor-led option can be run for any group size. If you have a larger team, or several teams to train, please speak with one of our team to discuss this further. We will help you work out the best way to run it and put together a tailored quote.
